GET THE SCOOP on Rights-of-Way
Did You Know?
Rights-of-way provide access to the shoreline along John’s Bay and to “landlocked” plots on the inland side for Pemaquid Trail community property owners.
These narrow portions of land are owned in perpetuity by the Pemaquid Trail Association, not the individual landowners whose properties abut the ROWs.
The ROWs are intended to be used for pedestrian access to the shore and for pedestrian and vehicle access to a person’s property.
The PTA appreciates when abutting property owners maintain a walkable pathway. Some volunteers regularly assist by trimming vegetation or performing other work, and many community members participate in the Spring Cleanup to help keep the ROWs easy to use.
ROW Rules
Everything you always wanted to know about Pemaquid Trail ROWs (but were afraid to ask!) can be found in our ROW Policies document.
In a nutshell, ROWs should not be obstructed by any type of PERMANENT object or structure, such as sheds or gardens. Similarly, any proposed removal or new planting of trees, shrubs, or other vegetation requires official permission from the PTA.
Please be aware that if your property is adjacent to a right-of-way and you wish to make a change that affects the ROW itself, you MUST complete and submit this Application to Modify a ROW.
